My 2000th Find

Today I went out work on the Ghost power run. I had in the past gotten over 160 FTF’s of this 500+ power run going from Rock Springs to the Atlantic mine. The caches run along the old rail road line that run from the mine to Rock Springs. When I started today I only needed 49 finds to hit 2000. As I was getting close to my goal we run in to a bridge that was out. We did not let that stop us.

We turned around and found another road that allowed us to cross over the stream. I had to back track a bit but was able to get back on the trail and back to the caches. The rain started and we stopped and picked up the 2000 find. We went on to get a few extra.

I need to thank my brother for showing me the joy of geocaching.

Geocache SWAG

My Brother and his girlfriend/wife to be make this really cool Geocache SWAG. They use flat marbles and glue a paper tag on the flat side. Then they paint and seal it so it will stay on. The paper tags they use have different geocache saying on them, and sometimes they even have your geocache name on them. Then they sell them from their geocache blog site, LiveLoveCache. If you have not checked out their site you need to. They have a lot of neat things for sell that make caching fun. I took their idea and made some for myself. I think they turned out ok. I don’t know how they paint the backs but I have found this spray on lacquer that does a great job of sealing the paper tag to the marbles.

Another cache on the power run.

View from the cache has a nice look at Boar Tusk.

shortly after this photo was taken I sunk my truck up to the point that I was high centered. I had to get my Brother-in-law to help pull me out. so I put up with a little (ok a lot ) of jokes about the way I drive. My wife was happy because I told her 22 years ago that she could not say anything about my driving till I get stuck. So she got to let out 22 years of my bad driving for her Birthday.

I found 3 ruts in the road. this is the smallest of the 3 and it was 2   1/2 feet deep.

20130509_133741working my way out to the main road so I could go home I picked up a fun small cache.
