Joe is walking to his car after getting off work when his phone beeps about a new cache that has just been published. He gets in his car and looks up the cache. He smiles to himself and thinks, “It’s only 19 miles out of my way.” He loads the cords into his GPS and heads off. Joe loves the notification alerts of new published caches. It was one of many extras he gets with his premium membership with geocaching.com. Traffic a little busy being most people are just getting off work. At a stop light he looks at the map on his GPS and plots his best route to the cache. The cache is at a ball park where he has played softball. He starts to think as he drives, “where would I put a cache there?” A few dozen spots come to mind as he pulls in to the parking lot. As he starts to get out of his car a truck pulls in. Joe yells, “May the best man win. Or do you want CO FTF?” Terry gets out of his truck and smiles. “I should have known you would be here. CO FTF works for me.” The two friends start walking the way their GPS’s are pointing. They both hit zero on a set of bleachers. After 30 minutes of looking Terry finds the cache in a under cap of the foot step. His fingers are too big to get it out. Joe pulls out his Leatherman and fishes it out. “Nice hide. What do you think Terry?” asks Joe. “Not bad. Owner needs to say that you may need a tool to get the cache out.” Terry signs the log and gets it ready to replace. “Just is what I was thinking. Look who just pulled in. Normally I just see tail lights from him. It feels good to get on before him.” Terry smiles, “Yes, it must be nice not to have to work and be able to just run after caches just published.” Joe waves at Mike, “We got one before you did. I think you owe us dinner.” Slapping Terry on the back as Mike walks up. “It’s not that often you get a FTF on me. Dinner does sound good. But Dutch.” “Ok. You find and log the cache and we will meet you at the Longhorn.” Terry says rubbing his stomach.
