The Adventures of Joe Cache and Ima Muggle: Ima tells her family about Geocaching
on December 8, 2011 at 12:06 amIma gets to her parents very late. Her mom was glad to see her safe but a little dirty. Ima explained this new game she is playing and how you have to find these hidden caches. Her mom laughs, “I heard about geocaching. Just how big is this thing?” Ima said, “Let me show you. I need to log my finds I found on my drive.” As Ima logged in to geocaching.com her mom set next to her talking about all the shopping the two would be doing on Friday. The site came up and Ima’s mom was shocked at just how many people and caches there was around the world. Ima did a search for caches around her parent’s house and found over 175 within 50 miles. “What is a Travel Bug?” her mom asked. Ima explained that it was a dog tag thing with a code that moves from cache to cache by other cachers and you can follow where it goes online. “I am looking to get a few of my own.”
Ima logged her finds she found on her trip home. When she was done she found she was 17 away from having 100 finds. She did pocket query of caches around her parent’s house and loaded them to her GPS. “I will get 17 before I head back home.” She said to herself smiling. She looked and saw that a cache was just down the street. “I am going out for a sec be right back.” She told her mom. Max, Ima’s brother, went with her. Ima grabbed her caching bag and the two left. Max had a lot of questions about what his sister had been up too and if she was dating anybody. Lucky for Ima they got the cache point before she had to answer. After about 5 min of looking Ima found the cache, a bison tub zip tied to a tree. Max thought it was cool and started asking more questions about geocaching and forgot all about the other questions he had for his sister. “After we eat tomorrow we can go out and find a few others. I want to find 16 more before I head home. That will give me 100.” Max said, ”Cool.”
